‘Sustainability’ to denrooms means addressing not just a responsible method of manufacturing, but also a responsible design, delivering pods that will provide a high level of comfort economically for decades, provide truly near zero maintenance requirements, and leaving trace environmental footprint.
Our pods are built upon our own high-strength galvanised steel base-frames, fitted with removable wheels for easy delivery to site, as well as easy on-site maneovrability (e.g. for seasonal operations). Steel framing is also used in our pod construction to provide the most rigid and durable pods on the market. Our range of external finishes use commercial-grade coated steel and aluminium panels are designed to last for generations in all weathers, giving long-term value and peace of mind.
We believe denrooms pods are the most durable and comfortable pods on the market today - the perfect choice for today's small- or large-scale operator.

Steel framed construction
denrooms is somewhat unique in using steel to form the main structure of our pods, rather than wood. There is no doubt wooden construction can be both efficient and sustainable, however we believe for the offsite construction of pods, steel lends itself to better, more consistent results, higher quality and outstanding durability:Steel does not shrink, split or warp. As a result there are no fixing ‘pops’ or settlement cracks in interior finishes
Steel is consistent in quality, resulting in <1% production scrap versus up to 25% with wooden construction. Wood doesn’t ‘grow’ on huge coils like steel, resulting in large off-cuts on every timber piece. Wood waste, however well managed, adds cost and environmental impact on production
Long term maintenance costs are reduced because steel is resistant to rot, mould, woodworm, termite and insect infestation - and fully galvanised is resistant to rusting for decades
Good indoor air quality (IAQ) is promoted because steel does not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
Steel is sustainable because it contains a minimum of 25% recycled steel and is 100% recyclable at the end of its serviceable life
Steel is non combustible
Finally...believe it or not, steel is lighter than wood – considering the amount you need to create comparable pod structures
Our steel construction methods:
Designed to ensure a minimum 60 year structural service life and beyond
Fully hot-dip pre-galvanised bolted chassis/sub-frame as standard on all denrooms
Hot-dip pre-galvanised structural frames secured via a proprietary method of bolts and structural riveting to ensure permanent, non-loosening connection of members for ultimate durability
Steel performs consistently to certificated structural grades for reliability of build, each time, every time
Thermal bridging of steel members is addressed and eliminated through our standard building fabric design, insulating between the structural members and the outer sheathing using rigid PIR (polyisocyanurate) boards specifically designed to reduce thermal conductivity

Insulation
denrooms construction uses three main forms of insulation in combination to achieve class leading ‘U’ values as well as acoustic insulation, reducing sound travel from outside as well as between rooms. These products are used in walls, floors and roof to provide the outstanding thermal fabric performance in every denroom:High performance rigid PIR (polyisocyanurate) insulation boards, covered in low emissivity foil. Eliminates thermal bridging. Zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low global warming impact (GWP)
High-performance mineral wool slab insulation. Very low global warming impact, and contributing to a low (or zero) carbon pod. Excellent thermal and acoustic performance, water repellant, cost effective and durable
Expanding spray foam (open and closed cell). BBA approved product which expands completely filling voids and air gaps, dramatically reducing air permeability. The polyicynene formulation is 100% water blown and therefore contains no harmful agents, volatile organic chemicals, HCFCs, HFAs, HFCs or formaldehyde
